Dr. Matthew Abendroth is a quadruple board-certified physician who founded Abendroth Modern Medicine to provide proactive, preventive, and highly personalized care that helps patients optimize health, performance, and longevity.

Dr. Abendroth has practiced outpatient medicine in Des Moines and emergency medicine across Iowa since graduating medical school in 2014. He has seen countless examples of the end result of suboptimal lifestyle choices, often culminating in life-changing (or ending) medical emergencies. His growing frustration with the limits of conventional reactive sick-care medicine led him to pursue advanced training in lifestyle, integrative, and functional medicine—fields that allow a deeper focus on prevention, root-cause healing, and the promotion of healthy longevity.

His commitment to proactive precision medicine is personal. At the age of 39, he diagnosed himself with osteoporosis while putting himself through his own Longevity Health Assessment. He has been able to reverse his osteoporosis already, but without knowing about it, it would only have gotten worse until a major fracture gave the first clue. That experience strengthened his belief in comprehensive testing and early, multimodal intervention as the foundation of a longer, healthier life.

Outside the clinic, Dr. Abendroth enjoys time with his family, strength training, cooking, and manual transmission sports cars, which, like his clinic, favor precision, performance, and connection.
