Longevity Health Assessment
Go beyond an executive physical with our comprehensive Longevity Health Assessment, an unparalleled deep dive into your health, risk factors, and current trajectory. Using gold-standard diagnostics, discover your body composition, bone density, liver health, oxygen utilization capacity (VO2 max), resting metabolic rate, insulin sensitivity, hormone levels, vitamin levels, advanced lipid profile, inflammatory markers, and more. This is far beyond what is tested in a typical annual physical or even the standard executive physicals our competitors offer.
When issues and opportunities are discovered early, we can intervene at the best possible time — now. It is unusual for a patient to undergo our Longevity Health Assessment without discovering actionable information about their health that was previously unknown. Sometimes, there are factors to optimize, like VO2 max, which correlates with decreased life expectancy and quality of life; other times, there are serious, must-act diagnoses that have been silently progressing, like weak bones, metabolic liver disease, or even cancer.
The assessment concludes with a written report detailing our findings, what they mean, and a detailed, personalized plan to optimize your health. If medical intervention is advised, specific details will be provided, and you can either take your plan to your doctor or work with Dr. Abendroth to implement it by joining our best-in-class concierge membership program.
What’s Included
Information Gathering
You’ll fill out a detailed intake form so we can learn about your medical and surgical history, as well as your family history and any health concerns you may have.
Advanced Blood Work
Unless you've been to an advanced longevity clinic before, this will be the most comprehensive blood work you have ever had done. Our base lab panel was carefully curated by our triple board-certified physician, Dr. Matthew Abendroth. It includes all the basics you would expect, like complete blood count, liver enzymes, electrolytes, etc, but also a comprehensive hormone assessment, advanced lipid and cholesterol synthesis pathway assessment, fatty acid profile, Omega-3 cell membrane content, insulin sensitivity markers, inflammatory markers, oxidation markers, and more.
Fibroscan Liver Elastography
This painless, non-invasive test uses ultrasound and vibration and is the gold standard for detecting liver fat and scarring. There is an epidemic of fatty liver disease in America affecting 30-42% of adults. The vast majority are unaware of it. Fatty liver has become the leading cause of liver failure, having overtaken alcohol. Your liver is critical to every other system in your body, from the quality of your skin to the functioning of your brain. If discovered early, we can completely reverse fatty liver and even early fibrosis.
Cognitive Testing
Take an online battery of cognitive tests to determine your baseline cognition, which is useful for detecting later changes, quantifying improvements with therapy, such as estrogen replacement in perimenopause & menopause, and identifying problems early, such as mild cognitive impairment.
DEXA Body Composition Scan
The Gold Standard in body composition analysis. This whole-body scan uses DEXA technology to determine the proportions of bone, fat, and lean mass in your body, far more precisely than InBody or BIA. Perhaps most importantly, it tells us how much dangerous visceral abdominal fat you have and how much muscle mass you have, two factors that are key to metabolic health and longevity. Of course, it also tells us the number everyone wants to know but isn’t as crucial as visceral fat or muscle mass: total body fat.
DEXA Bone Density Scan
Typically only covered by insurance after the age of 60, when you may already have osteoporosis, we do a DEXA scan in the office during your appointment. This is the only way to find out your bone density. It is astonishing how many young people have low bone density, and there are actions you can take to improve it. Dr. Abendroth diagnosed his own osteoporosis at age 38 and has reversed the trend of bone loss — something he never would have uncovered without DEXA, until a life-altering fracture gave the first clue.
Physical Testing
In addition to VO2 max, we test several metrics of physical performance such as balance and grip strength. Grip strength serves as a proxy for overall strength and is correlated with longevity; balance decreases with age, results in falls and injuries, and can be trained.
EKG
This heart test is used to establish a baseline upon which to compare future EKG’s, and also to detect arythmias and other heart problems
VO2 Max Testing
VO2 Max is a measure of the maximum amount of oxygen your body can utilize in one minute. It goes down as you age, and it’s loss is responsible for decreasing capacity for physical activity with aging. Your VO2 Max is among the best predictors of your remaining healthspan and is tightly correlated with longevity. Fortunately, it can be improved with proper training. The VO2 max test is conducted on a bicycle ergometer while wearing a mask that measures the gases you breathe out. We can see exactly how you compare with age- and sex-matched peers, where your trajectory is headed, and, most importantly, exactly what you can do to improve it. The test provides more information than just VO2 max, including anaerobic threshold, Zone 2, maximal heart rate, and more, which are used to create a personalized fitness plan designed to increase your VO2 Max so you can live longer, better.
Additional Optional Add-ons

Additional labs not included in the base labs, like Anti-Müllerian Hormone (ovarian reserve), DUTCH urine hormone metabolite testing, KBMO food sensitivity testing, stool microbiome testing, and many more, are available, depending on your needs.
Your Longevity Health Report
The assessment concludes with a comprehensive report prepared by Dr. Abendroth that details your test results and physiological findings. It provides a thorough interpretation of your current health status, risk profile, and trajectory. The report also includes specific, evidence-based, personalized, actionable recommendations and medical advice tailored to your needs and preferences covering nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management, hormones, supplements, medications, and other key interventions designed to help you reduce risk and optimize long-term vitality & performance. If further evaluation or referrals are suggested, that will be discussed as well.
The Process
-
Reach out to us, ask any questions you have may have, and schedule a Longevity Health Assessment.
After you pay your deposit and schedule your first visit, you will receive your intake forms. These should be completed as soon as possible, and must be completed by 24 hours before your first visit.
-
Meet with Dr. Abendroth to go over your history and concerns and complete your in-office testing, including DEXA scans, VO2 max testing, and liver elastography. Your lab tests will also be ordered at this time, including any additional tests you may desire or that we may recommend based on your history and concerns.
Any specialized optional lab kits, such as GRAIL cancer screening, will be sent to you. We will also help arrange any imaging studies that may have been ordered, like Whole Body Imaging or Cleerly CTA. -
Return to the office to review and discuss all your findings and recommendations, and receive a detailed, written report and health optimization plan. You will have plenty of time to ask questions and discuss everything in detail.
If there are any urgent findings that cannot wait until the second appointment, Dr. Abendroth will call you to discuss them.
-
Your LHA report will contain a detailed and comprehensive set of recommendations we call a health optimization plan. Where to go from there will depend on your results and desires.
You may be able to implement the plan on your own or with help from a health coach, personal trainer, or nutritionist. Some plans will require a doctor to implement fully if hormones, medications, or ongoing monitoring are required. Occasionally, we find problems that require referral to a specialist. Everyone’s report is different, and we’re here to help with whatever comes up.
The Longevity Health Assessment does not establish a treatment relationship with Abendroth Modern Medicine. Nothing will be prescribed unless you become a patient of the clinic.

Q&A
-
We charge $2,380 for the Longevity Health Assessment. Any additional add-on testing, such as GRAIL cancer screening, whole-body imaging, etc., will incur additional fees, which will be discussed.
You can pay for your Longevity Health Assessment with HSA or FSA funds, or if your employer pays for executive physicals, this counts as one. Check with your plan administrator or CPA to verify eligibility. You can also pay with a credit card or cash.
If you choose to become a concierge patient after your Assessment, 50% of your Longevity Health Assessment fee will be applied to the first year’s concierge retainer fee.
-
Insurance does not cover in-depth, proactive, preventive medicine. We are not in-network with any insurance company and never bill insurance for our services.
We can provide you with a superbill, which you can submit to your insurance company to try to get partial reimbursement. We cannot assist with that process.
-
The testing performed during your Longevity Health Assessment is an “executive physical.” If your company offers executive physicals, this qualifies as one.
We can provide an itemized receipt upon request. If you become a concierge member, we can break apart your annual membership fee into the Longevity Health Assessment component (we do one every year), and the concierge medicine component.
Always discuss these issues with your accountant or plan administrator to verify tax qualifications and financial implications.
-
It takes about 2 weeks to complete this assessment, as there are two office visits and a lab draw between them.

Nobody has a perfectly optimal assessment, but some people do come close. It is not uncommon to uncover previously unknown serious medical problems. Around half of our patients receive a new diagnosis. The most common new problems we identify are metabolic-associated liver disease and low bone density, but we also may uncover insulin or glucose problems, liver fibrosis, osteoporosis, lipid disorders, and even cancers. While finding problems can be distressing, it is better to find them early when they are most amenable to intervention. That’s why we do this.
